Anuradha Bhaumick is a textile and embroidery artist who tells stories through cloth and thread. Her work celebrates memory, the act of slowing down, and women claiming space for their own joy. Through her art, she builds mini universes and pays homage to the objects that form the patina of a life story: where women are safe to simply experience happiness. She works with heirloom fabrics donated by women from around the world, alongside pieces passed down from her own mother. These textiles carry the scent, sweat, and lives of the women who inspire her ongoing practice.
Her community project, Sui Kapda Baagan, focuses on keeping perfectly good fabric out of landfills. By rescuing leftover materials from the garment industry, the project uses hand embroidery to turn forgotten textiles into something beautiful and meaningful again. The best part is the impact: the proceeds from every single piece go directly toward funding The Savitribai Phule Memorial School in Darbhanga, Bihar, using craft as a simple, direct way to support education.
